About Taylors Choice

We are a long established family owned and run business spanning 4 generations and was formerly known as Taylors Organex Ltd.

In March 1964, TV’s famous gardening personality Percy Thrower, opened the Taylors Organex Garden Advice and Supply Centre and since then our family have been committed to the highest levels of service, value and choice.

My Grandfather was a leading horticultural lecturer and advisor in this area and saw a gap in the market for supplying products and advice to amateur and professional gardeners. The business expanded into landscape contracting and amongst many other contracts, became involved in the construction of a golf course on a remote Scottish Island.

In June 1948, my late Grandmother had a “Gold Medal” Sweet Pea named after her – Elizabeth Taylor, I wonder how many people over the years, that have grown this variety, have assumed it to be named after – the film star!

My father steered the company into wholesaling and is still actively involved with the horticultural and amenity side of the business, offering expert and knowledgeable advice on such matters.

Myself, well I have guided the company into retail supply with our 7000sqft retail outlet and culminating in our online website, where we hope to expand our local business to a nationwide company.

From our humble beginnings as a village shop, the business now operates from our 3 acre site based in Crewe, and we have over 5000 product lines stocked between our superstore and wholesale division.

My son – the fourth generation – has joined the company and we will wait to see what direction he takes the business in the years ahead.
